「第四十三屆香港電影金像獎」頒獎典禮將於4月27日（星期日）假香港文化中心隆重舉行。香港電影金像獎協會（大會）繼上星期發放本屆紀念特刊內「最佳新演員」、「新晉導演」、「最佳導演」及「最佳男、女配角」各候選人的造型照後，今天（9日）發布準影帝(以下按大會提名名單排序)林峯、劉青雲、游學修、許冠文及郭富城，以及準影后許恩怡、談善言、鍾雪瑩、衛詩雅及區嘉雯的型格造型照片。

榮膺首屆「香港電影金像獎—最佳男主角」的許冠文多年後憑《破。地獄》再次角逐影帝寶座，在片中他飾演一個古板嚴肅的喃嘸師傅，思想守舊重男輕女，對外人執著對子女苛刻，往往因為要堅守傳統而與他人起衝突。許冠文收起冷面笑匠的形象，扮演造型突出的喃嘸師傅兼傳統嚴父，演來入木三分。他早前在「2024年度香港電影導演會年度大獎」中率先獲得一眾香港導演同業評選為「最佳男主角」。

曾三奪金像獎「最佳男主角」的劉青雲在《爸爸》片中飾演一家之主，生活原本平淡溫馨，卻因妻女被患有精神分裂症的兒子殺死而家破人亡。他作為倖存者一方面要極力維持正常生活，另一方面要處理跟兒子的親仇關係。他淡然細膩的演出，深刻展現了角色的痛苦與掙扎，成功讓他獲得「第三十一屆香港電影評論學會」「最佳男主角」獎項，及後在三月份舉行的「第十八屆亞洲電影大獎」中，他更擊敗其他亞洲影帝級演員勇奪同一榮銜。且看劉青雲這個爸爸角色能否感動金像獎選民及評審，讓他第四度獲封影帝殊榮。

「金像影帝」郭富城在《臨時劫案》中飾演悍匪，是他從影以來首個賊頭角色。他的哨牙、滿面鬚根並將頭髮梳向後腦的老土造型突出，而戲中一幕使用麻將及玩具車作道具，向林家棟及任賢齊兩個臨時僱用的悍匪講解搶劫計劃時，盡顯狡猾與幽默一面。

本屆「最佳男主角」候選人尚有《九龍城寨之圍城》的林峯及《看我今天怎麼說》的游學修，二人均是獲得提名人生中首個電影獎項。在《九龍城寨之圍城》中，林峯飾演從大陸偷渡來港的孤兒，他以從地下拳賽贏得的獎金向果欄黑幫頭目買假身份證被騙，追究時情急之下搶走黑幫的毒品逃跑，在誤打誤撞下走進城寨，幸而獲得城寨話事人收留，更與其手下成為莫逆之交。之後他目睹恩人及好友被仇敵追殺，決心為他們復仇。林峯在戲中的突破性演出，讓觀眾感受到角色面對艱難環境下的韌力與勇氣，令人讚賞。游學修在《看我今天怎麼說》中飾聾人青年，他為自己的聾人身份感到自豪，雖然從小到大被百般阻撓禁用手語仍然堅持。游學修為了演好這個角色苦練手語，精彩的演出充份表達到這個角色的自信，並在與朋友的互動的戲份中展現友誼的力量，成功展現聾人社群的生活與挑戰。

本屆五位「最佳女主角」候選人無論誰人勝出，將會是她們首次榮膺「影后」殊榮。許恩怡以清新活潑形象出道，在奇幻愛情電影《久別重逢》中飾演高中女學生，因一張唱片與男主角結識並發展出一段青澀的愛情。由於她的年紀及個性與此片角色相若，演來自然真摯信心十足。

談善言在《虎毒不》中飾演一個新手媽媽，她特意增磅以求外形更像產後婦女，未婚的她更學習如何照顧嬰兒。她的角色在工作之餘還需要餵哺母乳及照顧經常哭鬧的女兒，加上工作及被辭退的壓力，令她與丈夫及家人的摩擦日漸增多，原本以為可以憑堅強性格硬撐下去，最終還是患上心理抑鬱導致精神崩潰，展現了在職母親在社會上承受的重擔。 衛詩雅與鍾雪瑩均是連續兩屆入圍金像獎「最佳女主角」的候選人，衛詩雅今屆以《破。地獄》角逐影后榮銜，她已憑此片獲得三個女主角獎項，包括「第三十九屆華鼎獎」、「第六十一屆亞太影展」及「2024年度香港電影導演會大獎」，成績斐然。為了掌握「破地獄」儀式的複雜動作，她用了九個月刻苦練習。戲中的她因當喃嘸師傅的父親重男輕女，父女關係疏離，直至在父親過世後看到留給她的「愛的遺書」才能釋懷。

鍾雪瑩之前憑《填詞L》在「第六十屆金馬獎」與及「第四十二屆香港電影金像獎」首嘗提名「最佳女主角」的滋味，今次憑藉《看我今天怎麼說》的聾人角色，先在去年「金馬獎」獲封「金馬影后」，並在本屆「香港電影金像獎」中角逐女主角殊榮。鍾雪瑩為這個角色用心設計特殊說話腔調及苦練手語，以精準細膩的演技將女主角的心路歷程及聾人的生活活現銀幕。

資深話劇演員區嘉雯近年才參與電影演出，已憑精湛演技在第三十九屆金像獎獲得「最佳女配角」獎項，今屆更榮獲提名角逐「最佳女主角」。她在《從今以後》中飾演一位女同性戀者，面對同居四十多年的愛人猝逝後，與伴侶的親人在喪葬及遺產分配上出現分歧。區嘉雯在演繹時並未刻意強調同性之愛，而是展現出一種超越性別的細水長流的情感，讓觀眾能夠深刻感受到她與愛人之間的相知相惜。

The 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards Presentation Ceremony will be grandly held on April 27 (Sunday) at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Following last week’s release of the stylish portraits of the nominees for ‘Best New Performer’, ‘Best New Director’, ‘Best Director’, ‘Best Supporting Actor’ and ‘Best Supporting Actress’ in the commemorative booklet, the Hong Kong Film Awards Association (HKFAA) today unveiled the stylish portraits of the nominees for ‘Best Actor’, namely Raymond LAM, Sean LAU, Neo YAU Hawk Sau, Michael HUI and Aaron KWOK (listed according to the order of the nomination list https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19a9AqgW2f/ ), as well as the nominees for the ‘Best Actress’, including Natalie HSU, Hedwig TAM, CHUNG Suet Ying, Michelle WAI and Petra AU Ga Man (listed according to the order of the nomination list https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1AyytjBs9x/).

Michael HUI, the ‘Best Actor’ of the 1st Hong Kong Film Awards, is poised to contend for the title again with his compelling performance in The Last Dance. In this role, he embodies a strict and traditional Taoist priest, whose conservative views prioritize sons over daughters. His rigid adherence to tradition often leads to conflicts with others. HUI skillfully sheds his usual comedic persona, delivering a powerful portrayal of both a distinctive Taoist priest and a strict father. He was recognized as ‘Best Actor’ by his fellow film directors at the 2024 Annual Awards of the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild earlier.

Three-time winner of the ‘Best Actor’ award of the Hong Kong Film Awards, Sean LAU stars as the family patriarch in Papa. Initially leading a simple and warm life, his world shatters when his wife and daughter are tragically killed by their schizophrenic son. As the surviving family member, he must strive to keep life normal while confronting the complicated relationship with his son. LAU’s calm yet intricate performance profoundly reflects the character’s sufferings and struggles, leading him to win the ‘Best Actor’ award at the 31st Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards and the 18th Asian Film Awards in March, surpassing other esteemed actors from Asia. It will be intriguing to see if LAU’s portrayal of this father figure can move the voters and juries at the Hong Kong Film Awards, granting him a fourth ‘Best Actor’ honour.

Aaron KWOK, the celebrated ‘Best Actor’ awardee, portrays a fierce robber in Rob N Roll, making this his first role as a criminal in his acting career. His distinct look features prominent buck teeth, full beard, and retro all-back hairstyle. In a standout scene, he creatively uses mahjong tiles and toy cars as props to explain the robbery plan to his hired henchmen, played by LAM Ka Tung and Richie REN, showcasing both the cunning and humorous sides of the role.

The nomination for ‘Best Actor’ also goes to two first time nominees, namely Raymond LAM for Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In and Neo YAU Hawk Sau for The Way We Talk. In Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, LAM portrays an orphan who has illegally enter Hong Kong from the mainland. He is tricked buying a fake identity card from a local gang leader with the prize money gained from underground boxing matches. In a panic, he steals drugs from the gang and escapes, inadvertently entering the Walled City. Fortunately, he is taken in by the local authority and forms a close bond with his followers. After witnessing the murder of his benefactor and friends by adversaries, he resolves to seek vengeance. LAM’s transformative performance resonates with audiences, highlighting the character’s strength and bravery in overcoming difficult circumstances.

In The Way We Talk, Neo YAU Hawk Sau plays a young deaf man who takes pride in his identity. Despite being discouraged from using sign language throughout his life, he remains determined. YAU practiced sign language hard for this role, delivering an impressive performance that expresses the character’s confidence and showcases the strength of friendship in his interactions with others. He successfully portrays the lives and challenges faced by the deaf community.

All the five nominees for the ‘Best Actress’ this year, whoever wins will earn the title of leading actress for the first time. Natalie HSU, who debuted with a fresh and vibrant persona, plays a high school student in the fantasy romance film Last Song for You in which she meets the male lead through a disk record, leading to the development of a sweet first love. Given that HSU’s age and personality are very similar with that of the character, her performance feels natural, sincere, and full of confidence.

Hedwig TAM portrays a novice mother in Montages of a Modern Motherhood. To authentically depict a postpartum woman, she deliberately gains weight and, despite being unmarried, she learns how to take care of a baby. The character faces the challenge of breastfeeding and attending to her often-crying daughter while managing the pressures from work and the stress of being laid off, leading to increasing tensions with her husband and family. Although she initially believes her strong personality will enable her to cope with all the difficulties, but she ultimately develops psychological depression, resulting in a mental breakdown. This performance highlights the burdens that many working mothers bear in the society.

Michelle WAI and CHUNG Suet Ying are both nominees for the ‘Best Actress’ award at the Hong Kong Film Awards for the second consecutive year. WAI runs for the title with her role in The Last Dance which has already earned her some remarkable achievements with the winning three ‘Best Actress’ awards, including the 39th Huading Awards, the 61st Asia-Pacific Film Festival, and the 2024 Annual Awards of the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild. To master the complex ritual movements in the film, she dedicated nine months to intense practice. Her character endures a strained relationship with her father, a Taoist priest who favours sons over daughters. It is only after his death, upon discovering a ‘love letter’ he left behind, that she is able to relief.

CHUNG Suet Ying first tasted the nomination for ‘Best Actress’ at the 60th Golden Horse Awards and the 42nd Hong Kong Film Awards for her work in The Lyricst Wannabe. This time, she shines with her role as a deaf character in The Way We Talk for which she won the Golden Horse ‘Best Actress’ award last year and is now competing for the same title at this year’s Hong Kong Film Awards. To prepare for this role, CHUNG designed a distinctive speaking tone and diligently practiced sign language, using her precise and subtle acting to authentically portray the character’s emotional journey and the realities of deaf individuals on screen.

Veteran stage actress Petra AU Ga Man has only recently begun her journey in film, yet she has already achieved significant recognition for her outstanding performance, winning the ‘Best Supporting Actress’ award at the 39th Hong Kong Film Awards. This year, she is nominated for ‘Best Actress’ in All Shall Be Well, she plays a lesbian who, after the sudden death of her partner of over forty years, has to face the conflicts with her partner’s family over funeral arrangements and distribution of assets. AU’s performance does not overly emphasize the theme of same-sex love; instead, she showcases a deep, enduring emotional connection that transcends gender, allowing the audience to profoundly feel the bond between her and her partner.
